Antonio X 2
Whoa, what a weekend. I finally have something interesting to write about! Well, sort of. Anyway, I met the Costa Rican version of myself. We went to a little restaurant for happy hour and our waiter just happened to be the only Costa Rican I’ve met who can successfully employ sarcasm. From moment one he gave me shit about everything. It was pretty funny. The clincher was when I asked for the check by saying “Can I get la cuenta?” And he said “Con mucho pleasure.” Yes! He’s a Spanglish speaking asshole too! I left, had myself a little guaro, and then went back to see if he wanted to hang out after he was done with work. He, naturally, said yes (I’m irresistible) so some friends, Anthony/Antonio and I headed to the only club in Manuel Antonio, which is right by the beach (boooy-hee) and very cool. I can’t say that I remember a ton after that but the evening ended with me drawing happy snakes on his arm. Not quite the ending you had in mind, eh? What can I saw, I’m lame.
He called me to say Happy Valentine’s day, strangely enough. We had a pretty ridiculous half hour conversation in which he tried to bribe me with sea kayaking. He said he’d take me if I could make it to Manuel Antonio again. Sorry Buddy can’t make it. I’m a busy girl. Although I would like to go sea kayaking. Hmm….Well, it’s nice to have options.
I hadn’t drank in like a million years so I was pretty damn hung over on Sunday. I think pretty sure there’s nothing worse for a hang over than extreme heat and 100% humidity. Oh well, I survived and now I’m set for the rest of the trip. No more guaro for me! That stuff is sneaky.
I just learned some invaluable Spanish from Joan of Arcadia-monitos de mar-Sea Monkeys. Cool. I’m sure I’ll use that a lot. I finally came up with the idea to type out my blogs on word and then copy and paste them the next day. It requires me to bring my computer to school, with the ever present risk of theft. Once again, oh well.
I wish I had something to comment on other that what is happening (or not happening) on my life down here but I have to admit that I haven’t been keeping up on USA news at all. Not that I’ve been keeping up on Costa Rican news either. I have no idea what’s going on anywhere except for in a house 200 metros oeste de la entrade principal de Saleciano Don Bosco. Wow. I suck. So let me know what’s going on, if you will.
