Countdown

And so begins my last week in the MQT. Nothing like starting it off right with a Rudolphesque shnooze and a Kleenex mustache. At least there's no one here to see me in my acute disgustingness. If you're looking for me, however, just follow the used tissues to the blob of humanity at the end. =) Oh well, colds always go away in the end. Better now than a month from now. I can't see Puffs with Lotion (con locion) being a hot commodity in Central America.

Last night was Joel's graduation party...that was fun. Once again, I realized how very old I am. I think half the people there were still in high school!!! The 17 year old girl taking money for cups at the door even know who the party was for.

"Is Joel here yet?"
"Who's Joel?"
"Uh, the guy who this party is for."
"Are you at the right party?"
"ARE YOU?"

I'm pretty sure she wasn't, the parties she should be attending usually involve funny hats, clowns, and pin the tail on the donkey. But it was still pretty fun making fun of people non-stop with Jules, Dusty, Paul, Joel and Shorty, all of whom I haven't seen in awhile. Drunk freshmen are easy targets and I'm not above taking aim. It hurts to think that I used to act like those girls. And I know I did.

That was definitely the highlight of my day. The evening consisted of getting into the most retarded fight EVER (and I've been in a lot of retarded fights) with Dave, who I would have never, ever pictured arguing with. And hopefully I never will again. =)

In other exciting news, I found out that Nate's former roommate is now engaged. Not unexpected, but interesting nonetheless. I can't believe people I used to date are now getting married. Does this mean I'm lagging behind? Am I supposed to be halfway to the alter as well? Because I really can't see that happening in the near future. Or maybe even the future period. It was just a very fitting conclusion to my 98% crappy day. Bad days are good in a way because it makes the subsequent days, even if only mediocre, seem great. =)

As it turns out, THREE of my former flames have taken walks down the aisle... I guess this would make four, as many people had postulated that he and I were in fact dating for a while. By the by, the last week in Marquette was excruciating for me personally. There's all those lonely barstools, all the broken down apartments you used to live in, all those bartenders that will fear for your safety after they don't see you for four days.

"Hello. Shamrock."
"Hey, Jules. This is Russ at Remie's. Listen, have you seen Nathan lately?"
"No."
"It's the darndest thing! He hasn't been in here since last Friday."
"Now that you mention it, he wasn't at Quarters this week. Did you call over to Flanigan's?"
"That's my next call. I've got a bad feeling about this one."
"God help us. God help us all."

And...scene.

A part of me feels like I should be going with you...weird...I will be visiting the Rica though...and I'll bring the Kleenex con locion...just make sure you stock us up on cerveza...as for old flames getting married...yes, definately weird...but it's better someone else marries them because if your not with them then their not worth it ;) Now that you bring up the making fun of freshman thing I wonder myself who I will sit and make fun of people with next semester...who am I going to hang out with next semester? Dude, I'm getting a little worried now...and yes we definately use to be those freshman girls...and we were the sophomore ones...and the underage ones....and the 21 year olds....and now we're just the early 20s...Wow, I'll be the only original crow left next semester...thats sad...I'm going to go cry now...
